Zhang Junmai who is one of the eight modern new-Confucianist of my country had been lingering between scientifically state and Political state and is famous of the Dabets on Science and Metaphysics Movement and gained the repution of "father of constitutional politics". He wrote the grandiose chapter of Confucian internal self-cultivation to external practice of his ideals. He had the particular theoretics thought of philosophy. His outlook on life was based on Confucian heart-mind and human innate nature theory and a transcendence and innovation in the level of internal self-cultivation to response to the new problems that his time was facing. He exposed his outlook on life completely through comparing science with Metaphysics in the Debates on Science and Metaphysics Movement in 1923. Zhang Junmai thought that the philosophy on life has five characteristics. They are subjective, instinctive, freewill, compositive and oneness. Because of these, though science is so developed, it is not able to solve with problems of philosophy. Only human-self can do it. Facing the difficult conditions at that time in China, Zhang Junmai advocated to establish a new outlook on life and thought it was the corn of the culture of a country, and the implantation of the new outlook on life is based on the foundation of new culture. So the new Song culture should be advocated in order to cultivate citizens with independent personality and healthy body.In the outlook on life of Zhang Junmai the differences between science and philosophy was brought forward. He disbelieves catholicity of facility rationality, and he believes that changing the simplex facility rational initiation will likely to bring China with the danger of repeating the culture crisis of west and the complete rupture of our own culture. He made out a new significant initiation on the course of near era culture history of China—initiation of value rationality. He advocated philosophy with free will, and thought with free democracy which is good for figuring new citizens with freedom inspirit and independent personality. In the same time he met China and west and sucked culture of other countries, and he did great work to the modernization of the literature of China.
