Recently, Mainland Chinese scholars gain lots of fruits in Biblical studies:literature studies early, then multi- disciplinary and Interdisciplinary Studies involving literature, theology, linguistic and so on. As scholars attach importance to the studies of primary text of religion and demand deeper studies of Bible, more of them turn to the studies of deep into the Bible and exegetics. This text is following this trend to make a study of the covenant in the Old Testament, especially Sinai Covenant, Davidic Covenant, New Covenant of Jeremiah and the relation between them, tracking down the developing clew of the God-Human Relationship.This paper puts to use methods of historic philosophy and text comparison to research the turning and exchange of the upper three covenants from social-history context, self identity and self-understanding, meaning of selections. The Covenant of Jeremiah is against to Davidic Covenant and back to Sinai Covenant.There are four parts mainly. The first part is to introduce Book of Jeremiah, general situation of research and methods. The second part is to analysis the concept of covenant, Sinai Covenant and Davidic Covenant. The third part is on the theme of "back to Sinai Covenant" by self-identity and self-understanding of the prophet of Jeremiah. The forth part is to analysis the text of "New Covenant" (Jeremiah30-33).There is a circle here—from the beginning of Sinai Covenant, to the deviation of Davidic Covenant, then to the returning of the New Covenant of Jeremiah. The covenant is not stable. It evolves when new history experience put into old traditions. Holding this cycle is important to understand the New Covenant of Jeremiah, even the theology of the whole Old Testament. Israel’s self-identity and self-understanding evolves when the covenant changes. Exiling for more than two thousand years, the signet of the nation have not been wear away. This is an important reference to Chinese self-identity and self-understanding in global time.
