Student engagement is the initiative experience of individual students; in the process of engagement, the student’behaviors engage as a carrier, along with psychology activities including emotional and cognitive involvement. Researches about student engagement in pedagogic are of detailed and in-depth both at home and abroad. And, though students engagement is no longer a new issue, to study it from the perspective of behavior engagement, affective engagement, and cognitive engagement is still very little. For this, the author conducted this investigation.The method of this research is case study. The specific ways used in it include questionnaires, class observation, interviews, etc. According to the result, there are still a lot of problems in the process of engagement, such as: passive engagement in class, and lacking of consentration on class; some students are defficient of interest in engagement in class, and some students even thought that they were ignored and the like; in using learning strategies, some students choosing improper learning strategies, and being independent on teachers; and so on. According to different grades and different genders in teaching student engagement’s analysis, student engagement in teaching existed certain differences between the different grades, behavior engagement in teaching existed certain differences between the different genders, affective engagement and cognitive engagement in teaching involved with little difference. Between the different genders.Under the guidance of constructivist learning theory, humanistic psychology, interpersonal teaching theory and cooperative learning theory ,and based on learning characteristics of primary and secondary school students, this paper put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. This involve to learn students previous knowledge, so that it promotes students engagement; to set reasonable learning task, so that it promotes students engagement; to change teaching methods, so that it promotes students engagement; to establish specific, clear teaching objectives, so that it promotes students engagement; to establish harmonious teacher-student relations, so that it promotes students engagement; to improve the relationship between student and student, so that it promotes students engagement; to give students time and opportunities to construct knowledge, so that it promotes students engagement. In addition, according to different grades, different gender student engagement’s difference, the students should be thinking to promote students engagement according to development of the characteristics of students at different levels; according to boys engagement in classroom teaching in poor circumstances, it referred to the need to balance the proportion of male and female teachers in primary schools to develop for boys engagement and to establish some teaching activities to promote boys engagement.
