The current employment situation in China is grim for graduates, whether at domestic or abroad. The employment problem of graduates has been a hot topic in the society. Scholars have done many in-depth researches on it, and concluded a variety of factors to the problem. This paper selects social capital and human capital as the objects of study, and tries to further explore ways to solve the difficulties in the employment. Firstly, theoretical analysis. According to social capital and human capital related theory, the study analyzes the impact of the employment of graduates. And the basic idea is proposed, which is that human capital is the foundation, and social capital is the supplement, and human capital plays a more important role on the employment of graduates than social capital. Secondly, empirical research. In the case study of Bansongyuan Road Semi-district in Huangpu District, the study describes the employment situation of graduates of the entire community in 2010, and the surveys implemented in 2009&2010. And the study established the six variables, and proposed eight assumptions about the relationship between the graduates’employment and these two kinds of capital. Then the introduction of SPSS helps to analyze a database of 670 fresh graduates in 2010 and find out the relationship between variables. In addition, the study also uses binary logistic regression (BLR) and ordinal logistic regression (OLR) as a model for regression analysis. The results are as follows: the higher score of "Parents of social stratification "," Classification of schools ", "the highest degree" or "Party members" indicates the more possibilities for fresh graduates to find a job fast and get a better job; social capital brings bigger influence than human capital on the graduates’employment; strong ties to the graduates had significant effects on employment. Thirdly, further analysis. The paper further introduces the reason why social capital has bigger influence than human capital during the job seeking by graduates, and also points out the dangers of excessive use of social capital. Finally, the paper puts forward the strategies and recommendations, which may promote the development of Chinese labor market more fairly and equitably, and may help social capital and human capital pay the right influence, and make graduates enhance their own quality and capacity in order to obtain the better employment opportunities.
