Study on the Mechanism of H.264 Video Self-Adapted Transmission Based on RTP

With the rapid popularization of the Internet, people are tending to get information from Internet in a vivid and intuitive way more and more. The developments of digital video technology and network technology meet people’s need in a great extent. For this reason, various kinds of applications based on network video transmission are becoming booming businesses on the internet. However, internet is a best-effort network, and video applications are characterized by large amount of data and high requirement in QoS. Therefore, the network video transmission is facing challenge.As a new generation video coding standard, H.264 has a good prospect for application because of its excellent efficiency of coding and adaptability of network; and RTP is an application-layer protocol which is widely used to provide guarantee of QoS in current multimedia communication. Just considering from the perspective of combination of the two basic elements, the paper make a deep study on the mechanism of H.264 video self-adapted transmission based on RTP.First of all, according to the study in this paper, the features of H.264 and the applicability of video transmission protocol are discussed; RTP protocol is also deeply analyzed. After that, the traditional network assessment algorithm is improved on the base of analyzing the exiting self-adapted transmission theory; meanwhile, according to the study on H.264 rate adjustment factors, a self-adapted transmission algorithm which is easy to implement and based on quantization parameter adjustment is proposed, the paper also gives solutions for NALU’s RTP packaging and the synchronization between encoding and decoding. Finally, based on the self-adapted transmission mechanism presented in this paper, the H.264 video self-adapted transmission system is designed and implemented by VC++6.0.The mechanism of self-adapted transmission presented in the paper is proved to have good adjusting effect by experiments; it can be used in the H.264 video transmission system with other mechanism of self-adapted transmission. The self-adapted transmission system designed and implemented in the paper also can be expanded to achieve more complicated function.
