In high-power applications, multi- level inverter has many unique advantages, such as no devices can be connected in series to achieve high levels of output voltage , output voltage du / dt is small, the output voltage harmonic content, so multi-level inverters in the power system and high-power AC drive field gained great importance . Current common multi -level inverter there are three: diode clamp , capacitive clamped and cascade . Each phase of the inverter cascade by a plurality of single-phase full -bridge inverter in series, so cascaded modulation inverter , control and protection devices are modular , easy production of the inverter , applications and extensions. However, the inverter is required for each cascaded single-phase inverter unit provides a separate DC source, so when the inverter output voltage level of the high number of required number of independent current source, which is cascaded inverter the main disadvantage , which limits the application of cascaded inverters . To solve this problem , this paper proposes a novel hybrid cascade inverter. This new hybrid cascade inverter dc source by improving the utilization so as to achieve the purpose of reducing the number of direct-current source . Firstly, from a single- phase inverter works start, for single- phase inverter problems exporting new hybrid cascaded inverter working principle and the use of MATLAB / simulink simulation , and then extended to the three-phase hybrid cascade inverter. From the simulation results confirm the new hybrid cascade inverter can achieve three-phase five -level , seven -level output level and eleven , and the control is simple and effective . As new hybrid cascaded inverter eliminates half or more of the DC source , should this system has been simplified and improved reliability .
