Analysis and Evaluation Model of the Competitiveness of China’s Thermal Power Plants

Electric power industry is the national fundamental industry; it is also the strategic role in the economy, society and national security. With the electricity further advance of market-oriented reform, the competitive bidding mechanisms will establish and prefect between the power generations, generation enterprise has been the main body of the power market competition, business more competitive. Thermal power plant is pillar enterprise, analyzing and evaluating the thermal power plant competitiveness objectively and comprehensively is helpful for the thermal power plant to find its situation in the power market, work out the effective competition strategy, and improve its own competitiveness, and it’s also significant for thermal power plants’economic benefit, exist and development and so on. However, there are hardly any prior theoretical study enriches the theories of the thermal power plant; therefore, the present study enriches the theories of power plant competitiveness.The method of theoretic analysis combined with practical analysis and method of qualitative analysis combined with quantitative analysis were selected to analyze the thermal power plants’competitiveness; construct a fairly comprehensive and practical evaluation mode in this thesis. Firstly, indicate the current situation of the electric power industry, expound the producing difference between the thermal power plants and other power enterprise. The thermal power plants’business environment is analyzed from four standpoints of power demand environment, market environment, raw material supply environment and state policy. Secondly, on the basis of the enterprise competitiveness theory, this paper analyzes the each influencing factor of thermal power plants competitiveness, according to the difference of those effect, those factors are renewed and classified. Potential competitiveness, actual competitiveness and achievements competitiveness are put forward; the formation mechanism of the thermal power plants’competitiveness is summarized. Thirdly, combining the factors, author designs the evaluation index system. Fourthly, the competitiveness evaluation modal is built according to AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), PCA (Primary Component Analysis) and synthetic index. Then the competition ability of 8 thermal power plants is analyzed and ranked based on the above modal. Through this result we can find the inadequate development of those enterprises, and adjust a new strategy for meeting the market demand.According to the present situation which is now being confronted by the thermal power plants, the thesis makes analysis from both quantitative and qualitative sides, layout and applies index systems and evaluation mode. And it will be a theoretic and practical guide to enhance the competitiveness of the thermal power plants in our country.
