Pleurotus tuber-regium (Fr.)Sing is a kind of infrequent fungus partly distributed in the tropics and semitropics, such as China, Burma and other countries of the southeast of Asia and Africa, which belongs to Pleurotacea family. In our coutry, it has been found in the two counties of Tengchong and Zhangfeng of Yunnan province. Both the sclerotium and the fruitbody can be used for medicine, which have plentiful nutritional components and much pharmacological value. It is reported that in Africa the sclerotium can help cure gastropathy, constipation, fever, cold, edema, pectoralgia, furuncle, the diseases of nervous system, smallpox, asthma, and hypertension and so on. In addition, it can also help fetus develop and premature survive. In our country, the sclerotium is used for medicine for external application to cure mastitis.The thesis has overall survey and distinguishment on morphological, microscopic identification,physical and chemical character on the sclerotium. And the ethanol extract of the sclerotium is betokened by UV-Vis spectra.In some civilian prescriptions, the Pleurotus tuber-regium (Fr.)Sing is used for a kind of Chinese traditional medicine, which help dissipate phlegm to relieve asthma. However, its pharmacological activity has not been lucubrated. By some simple pharmacological experimental methods, it is studied on the pharmacological action on dissipating phlegm to relieve asthma of Pleurotus tuber-regium (Fr.)Sing in the thesis. From the 60% ethanol extract of the sclerotium of Pleurotus tuber-regium (Fr.)Sing, the chemical components on dissipating phlegm to relieve asthma are analysed by solvent extraction, column chromatography and High Performance Liquid Chromatography.
