Objective To investigate the positive rate of suicide ideation among Xinjiang university students and to evaluate the relationship between intensity of suicide ideation and suicide attitude, life event, Social Support, Psychological Health etc. Methods By using questionnaires with multistage stratified random cluster sampling method, 2763 valid questionnaires of 3000 were backed from the university students in 7 universities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region. This study were surveyed and analysised by questionnaires with five scale of general status, suicidal ideation, suicide attitude, psychological symptoms self-assessment, social support and life events. Results The total incidence of suicide ideation in Xinjiang university students was about 21.6%, The investigation show: [1]The general status: 1 In different major. nation, the suicide ideation of college students was obvious differences, the students of major in arts and sports existed suicide ideation rate than other professionals; other national rate of suicide ideation were more than Han. 2. There was no significant difference of the studengts having suicide ideation in different gender, grade, hometown of students, whether was the cadres among students, whether is the one-child. 3. Different academic performance, study pressure of college students were significant difference in suicide ideation, and the students who were poor school performance and felt much pressure on learning had high incidence of suicide ideation. 4. Suicide ideation was significant different in major, the pressure on employment of students, the suicide ideation of the highest major satisfaction; and felt much pressure on employment of college students was significantly higher than others. 5. The suicide ideation of the students had statistical significance in whether is single-parent families, suicide from history of families, life satisfaction and from different relations families, the suicide ideation of students living in single-parent families, being from suicidal history family, felt much pressure on life, were higher than others. students from alienated families was higher than that of intimate family and the general. [2]Analysis of affecting factors:1 There was no difference between the different intensity of suicide ideation and the attitude towards; but a significant difference was observed in the viewpoint on suicide and the attitude towards the euthanasia and suicide relative of suicide victim. One had stronger suicide ideation if he had a positive, understanding, tolerant attitude towards the behavior of suicide, the suicides and their relatives and vice versa. 2. There was significant difference between the different intensity of suicide ideation and the interpersonal relation in life event, study stress, punishment, loss, healthy adaptation, and others. The higher the average value of the above affecting factors in life events, the more the college students with ideation of suicide. 3. There was significant difference between the different intensity of suicide ideation and the interpersonal relation in the nine influents factor of psychological health. The higher the average value of the above affecting factors in psychological health, the higher the rate of suicide ideation in the college students. 4. There was significant difference between the different intensity of suicide ideation and the interpersonal relation in the four factor of social support. The lower the average value of the above factors in social support, the higher the rate of suicide ideation in the college students. [3] The logistic regression analysis showed that: academic performance, the pressure on employment, the nation, the attitude of suicidal behavior, somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal relationships, depression, hostility, mental illness, some other affecting factors in young people living events, objective support entered the equation, and are the main affected factors of the suicide ideation. Conclusions Different professions, ethnic groups, single-parent families, a family history of suicide, academic performance, learning pressure, the pressure on employment, professional satisfaction, life satisfaction and family relations on college students had a certain impact on suicide ideation. Suicidal ideation and the existence of strong and weak can be judged according to the attitude of suicide. Suicide ideations were affected by life events, social support and mental health of college students. Academic performance, the pressure on employment, the nation, the attitude of suicidal behavior, somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal relationships, depression, hostility, mental illness, some other affecting factors in young people living events, as well as objective support were the main affected factors of the suicide ideation.
