Experimental Modal Analysis of MGK7350 Surface Grinding Machine and Structure Improvement of Grinding Head

The dynamic characteristic of machine tool is one of the most important performance indexes, which is tightly related to the manufacturing capability of machine tool. This paper presents the dynamic characteristic of MGK7350 high precision NC surface grinder using experimental modal analysis technique. Finite element analysis is also used to research the improvement approach for grinding head of MGK7350 high precision NC surface grinder, which could expect to enhance its dynamics performance. The main content of this paper is as follows:(1) The research content and approach of dynamic characteristics of machine tools are introduced; and the development and application of experimental modal analysis techniques are also presented.(2) Based on the theory of experimental modal analysis, hammering Method is used and modal experiment of surface grinder with horizontal spindle and rotary table is performed. All order modal parameters are obtained and analyzed, from which the weakness of surface grinder is being found.(3) Aiming at one of the weak components– grinding head, the relevant finite element analysis is preformed and dynamic parameters of grinding head are obtained, based on which the potential structure improvement approach is proposed. (4) Based on the summary of application of resin concrete on machine tool structure, two improvement approaches where grinding head is filled with resin concrete are presented and corresponding finite element analysis are performed to study the improvement effect. Finally the meaningful proposal of grinding structure improvement is given.
