With the rapid development of computer technology, the software and hardware design of embedded system based on high-speed CPU has also made a great progress. Currently, the application of embedded system has been widely used in industry, ministry, and communication etc. In order to improve machining precision and response of worktable combine with grinding technics, this article presents an ultra-precision feeding control system in which 32bits ARM9-based CPU is adopted as core processor instead of 8bits MCS-51. The actuator is PZT.According to the character and demands of grinding, this paper describes a typical design of embedded control system applied to grinding and its realization in detail. The system mainly consists of hardware design, software design and control arithmetic of the piezo-actuator design.The hardware development contains project plan, schematics circuit consideration, PCB layout and system debugging. Meanwhile, the paper also demonstrates the hardware design methods that help the system avoid noises. The hardware development introduces building block layout method, which can achieve function expansion easily and conveniently. In addition, the theory and usage guide of devices which the system covers are analyzed in detail.Software design is mainly focus on hardware layer driver development based on embedded OS Linux. With consideration of Linux device driver development, the paper gives an introduction how to realize Linux device driver. Moreover, the cooperated and separated development of hardware and software in embedded system is discussed.In this system, a new arithmetic was adopted-PID combined with feed-forward based on non-linear and hysteresis model of PZT.At last, with consideration of applications in grinding, the controller was applied in experiments to testify its performance. Then, the result has proved that the system is easy to upgrade and maintenance, and is applicable for precision CNC grinder.
