Study on Mothods of Crude Pigments Extraction by Emulsion

Natural pigment , food additive , it is an inevitable trend to replace synthetic chemical pigment in Europe and the United States and other developed countries have banned synthetic pigment used in food, medicine . Natural pigments come from fruits, vegetables , flowers and other natural products on human security , higher health functions easy to absorb and both have a good preventive effect on cancer, heart disease , eye disease . Natural pigment of various extraction methods , solvent extraction process is simple , less investment in equipment , the technology is easy to grasp , the widest application , is more commonly used method . However, the use of organic solvents to extract the presence cause serious pollution to the environment . Through a simple, quick test method , the use of acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, styrene , n-butanol , distilled water, sodium hydroxide , potassium persulfate, emulsion polymerization , and thus synthesis of a polymer surfactant . A series of fat-soluble natural pigment extracted and then take advantage of this polymer surfactant , these natural pigments including lycopene , capsanthin , chlorophyll , carotene , the orange pigment . The method with water as the solvent , to avoid the toxicity of the organic solvent extraction , severe pollution , expensive shortcomings and can be seen through the comparison of the effect of the extract with organic solvent extraction , the extraction efficiency is not less than the organic solvents extraction method. Experiments prove that the new method of extraction of the fat-soluble natural pigment is a practical use of the polymeric surfactant .
