The Reliability Design of Stability Monitoring Unit for Hydro-turbine Generator Sets

Along with the in-depth development of hydro-turbine generator sets condition-based maintenance, more and more condition monitoring and fault diagnosis systems for hydro- turbine generator sets were imported and applied in the hydropower plants, provided technical and managerial support for equipment repair and maintenance. The system’s reliability is of vital importance, and the electro-magnetic radiation, vibration, shock, dust and temperature in the environment may reduce the system reliability. So, it is necessary to carry out the reliability research of hydro-turbine generator sets condition monitoring and analysis system.Relying on the subproject called“Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis of Stability”of“Hydropower Plant Optimal Maintenance Information System (HOMIS)”, this paper states the design of the high reliable hydro-turbine generator sets stability unit. First the system’s requirements on reliability were proposed, and the common methods and techniques on how to improve the hardware reliability and software reliability were summarized. Then the hardware reliability design and the software reliability design of the hydro-turbine generator sets stability monitoring unit were elaborated in detail.The characteristics extraction for the signal is the important part of condition monitoring and analysis system. To improve the accuracy and reliability of the characteristics extraction by time-domain and frequency-domain analysis methods, this paper firstly analysis the signal characteristics of the hydro-turbine generator sets normal signal, fault signal and noisy signal, designs the digital filter algorithm capable of filtering out pulse interference signals, high frequency interference signals and random interference signals. Then the improved energy centrobaric correction method is introduced to solve the problem of Spectrum Leakage and“Fence Effect”in Fast Fourier Transform method, and the results suggest that the precision and accuracy of the computering is improved . At last the data from Gezhouba 10F hydro-turbine generator sets is analyzed and the result provides the important reference for finding out the running status and fault status of the hydro-turbine generator sets.
