Design and development determines the productive applicability and profit of enterprises. Quality of design and development is good or bad, not only depends on the ability of staff, but also depends on whether there is advanced, scientific and rational design and development processes and systems. For some products because of complex structure, a long trial period, in particular, concerning the personal safety, such as automotive products, need to focus on design and development process and system building.In china, design and development processes and system mainly based on experience of stuff, lack the control of review, verification and validation, revised drawings again and again, lead large consumption. Also adopted stage design, the design cycle is long. Design activities do not attach importance to the systematic testing, data preservation and using, once redesign again, few design document can be used. Therefore, the design and development process reengineering and systems rebuilting have great significance.Design and development process and system construction and the establishment of the various aspects of control should be based on customer requirements and meet or exceed their expectations, and guide resources, prevention priority, to avoid late changes, timely development of the lowest cost and high quality products.This article is based on diesel products, from reference of the latest ideas and successful practices of the domestic and international automotive product development, to study diesel engine product design and development process. To make the complex design and development process clear, according to the different nature of the product design and development process,we divide it by five stages:planning and identification of project phases, product design and development phase, process design and development phase, product and process confirmation phase, feedback assessment and corrective action phase. In each stage of product design and development, we compared our original process, proposed the major deficiencies, to discuss the work should be undertaken at this stage, reengineering the design and development process. The design development phase of each work is not isolated, there are logic inherent relations. After completed discussion of these stages, we will integrate all stages of the design and development process to a complete system.
