At this stage computer mass storage media instead of paper become the main way of information storage and attendant storage system security has become a critical issue . Such as the loss of corporate trade secrets , the research results of the scientific research units and military units all kinds of confidential information such as the huge potential loss . Against the increasingly serious problem of storage system security , on the basis of research of the Windows kernel driver , this paper analyzes the existing file system , and put forward new ideas as an encrypted file system design based driver . Numerous attempts by the driver in the design process to develop a practical encryption mechanism to complete the design of the encrypted file system . This paper introduces in detail the driver key encryption mechanism processing , as well as the overall structure of the system design . Encrypting File System as the core driver architecture , the structure of the hierarchical design method , the middle layer using dynamic link library provides access to the drive interface , making the development of the system is flexible and more scalable , while more conducive to the upper application development . The implementation of the encryption algorithm , the system package, the selection of a variety of encryption algorithms to provide a unified interface . This article is also kind of special programming on the driver 's do a brief introduction , including the use of development and debugging tools . Efficiency analysis tools kernel performance analysis tools and specially developed file read and write operations , the encrypted file system performance analysis , sum up the strengths and weaknesses of the existing Encrypting File System Encrypting File System on the future development of new proposals and ideas. Encrypting File System as able to overcome some of the shortcomings of the existing and the future will be able to have broad application prospects in the field of information security .
