With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the accelerated process of urbanization, integrated affected by various factors such as diseases, wars, natural disasters and accidents, China has currently been being in the age of frequent occurrence of public health crisis. In recent years, China has successively experienced the SARS, Avian influenza, Sudan, Anhui Sixian fake vaccines and other public health crisis incidents. The public health crisis has increasingly become the focus point of media report. Although the media has reported kinds of public health crisis for quite a long time, the study of the media coverage of public health crisis has not become the hot subject in journalism and communication circle until the occurrence of SARS in 2003.Current research results directed mainly at the report of the emergency public health crisis, but rarely involving the non-emergency public health crisis and the false public health crisis. By the integrative use of the knowledge of journalism, communication, public science, ethics, law, public health science, health communication and other subjects, switched the perspective of research and transcended the former ones’research results, further extended the field of the study of public health crisis coverage, this study has creatively advanced the concepts of the non-emergency public health crisis and the false public health crisis, besides the deep study on the report strategy of the emergency public health crisis. This study adopted case analysis, taken incident of SARS as an example to analyze the problems existing in the media report of SARS, proposed the report strategy for emergency public health crisis; taken aids as an example to propose the strategies for media to cope with non-emergency public health crisis; taken Colgate carcinogenic incident as an example to advance the report strategy of the false public health crisis. By studying on the above three kinds of public health crisis, this paper has put the strategies in order on a whole for the media to cope with the public health crisis.In addition, this study also has had deep consideration and analysis on law, ethics, the relationship between the media and government and exporters, the scientific literacy of employees in the media profession, the audience’s media literacy and heath literacy and other major issues, all of which affected the report of public health crisis. It concluded from the study that, after the issue of the law of response to emergency incidents,the media report mechanism, actions and ideas on public health crisis were being improved. When the media report the public health crisis, it is not only the journalism ethic, but the public health ethic should be taken into account. The media must properly handle the relation with the government and experts. Since the insufficient scientific knowledge of Chinese employees in media profession, China is in urgent need of maturing professional reporter of public health. The media literacy and health literacy of Chinese citizens were also being improved, which exerted great influence on the report of public health crisis.
