Following the development of economic and living standards in China, a great number of solid wastes are produced, especially hazardous wastes, so as to menace our living condition. So it is important that the basic researchments of hazardous wastes disposing are developed. In order to understand the pyrolysis and combustion characters of hazardous wastes, it is necessary to study the pyrolysis and combustion characters of single hazardous wastes, and apply basic dates for hazardous wastes hermochemistrical disposition. This paper studies the pyrolysis and combustion of paint and tar based single hazardous wastes by thermogravimetry. An experimental apparatus of thermogravimetry analysis for larger particles was designed and built. On this experimental apparatus, studied single paint and tar based hazardous wastes pyrolysis of different heating rates、different final temperatures, got pyrolysis curves. By comparing the curves, found with the increasing of heating rate, the pyrolysis rate of single paint and tar based hazardous wastes was speeding up. But in a certain range, heating rate had no effect with the weight loss rate. Different final temperatures have the same thermogravimetry curve shape. Single paint and tar based hazardous wastes pyrolysis process can be divided into three stages. After analyzed experimental data, by using the first order reaction kinetics model, we calculated pyrolysis kinetic parameters of different conditions. On this experimental apparatus, studied single paint and tar based hazardous wastes combustion of different excess air ratio、different furnace temperatures, got combustion curves. By comparing the curves, found with the increasing of excess air ratio, the burning rate of single hazardous wastes was speeding up. But when excess air ratio reached 1.75, excess air ratio has little effect on the burning rate. With the increasing of furnace temperatures, the weight loss rate of single paint and tar based hazardous wastes was significantly increased. But when furnace temperatures reached 850℃, furnace temperatures has little effect on the weight loss rate. Two models of larger hazardous wastes particles were established, then we compared the calculated value with experimental data, found the second model can fitting better. Then we can use it to simulate the burning weight lossing process of single hazardous wastes particles.
