Expansive soil is a special kind of different from the loess , clay , soft soil , permafrost , and ordinary clay soil, expansive soil is strongly hydrophilic clay mineral composition - smectite and illite , has expanded configuration , and multi- fractured , strong swelling and shrinkage and strength degradation of high plasticity clayey soil . Swelling rock is one of the most complex engineering geology and rock mechanics worldwide research topics , the first encounter and the most urgent issues to be addressed in all kinds of engineering and construction , survey, design , expansive soil discrimination issues , from three aspects of fuzzy math , gray system and neural network , preparation of different procedures , the Dalian Xingang red clay classification, and the three methods were compared , and strive to find a more reasonable simple and practical classification of expansive soils . Soil mechanics has been the strength of cohesive soils as an important topic to be studied . Practice has proved that the strength of expansive soil than the ordinary cohesive soil is more complex multi . Nanjing Meishan expansive soil and the Dalian Xingang red clay the consolidation the slower shear and fast shear test , to prove the strength of different strength characteristics and general cohesive soil , as well as a variety of different factors , for expansive soils engineering construction provides a reasonable basis .
