Fifteen compounds were separated from the root of Paeonia lact~flora Pall (Baishao and Chishao in Chinese) by using open-column, preparative TLC and HPLC methods et al.On the basis of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis, thirteen compounds were identified as: albiflorin R1(1) , acetyl paeoniflorin (2), oxypaeoniflorin (6), benzoylpaeoniflorin (4), galloylpaeoniflorin (5), albiflorin (7), paeoniflorin (3), 1,2,3,4, 6-pentagalloylglucose (8), galloyl acetate(12), benzoic acid (10), gallic acid (11), daucosterol (9) and P -sitosterol (13). Among them, albiflorin R1(1) and acetyl paeoniflorin (2) were novel compounds.In the molecular structure of the novel compound albiflorin R1, P -Dglucose connected with the aglycone at Glc-2 OH, while the hemiacetal hydroxyl was free. This kind of glycoside have not been discovered in the nature.Some different of components between Baishao( ~ ~) and CMshao(~~) have been observed.It was the first time that the proton signals of paeoniflorin and albiflorin were assigned completely by means of 2D-NMR and a review on the monoterpene and its glycosides obtained from Paeonia was given on the basis2of our work and references.
