Reverse engineering automotive body optimization modeling

Reverse Engineering is an important method to digitize the automotive model or other model. The digital automotive model acquired by reverse engineering is the basement of automotive body design, rigidity analyse and manufacture. To acquire a smooth and exactitude surface created by reverse engineering, a study of the optimizing method in the establishment of the reverse curved surface is presented in this paper as follows:1. Reverse Engineering should consider synthesisly about the method of data acquirement, surfacer modeling technology and modeling software, which is analyzed in a correct way in this paper. At the same time the right choices under different conditions to get a smooth and exactitude surface is presented..2. It is necessary to optimize the data to get a smoother surface because the data acquired by CMM is clutter and the blunder existing in automotive model shoud be removed. This paper establish the mathematics model of parameter spline function to optimize the data acquired by CMM.3. In order to get a satisfied digital automotive model, some other optimizd methods are brought into effect because sometimes the optimized data processed by mathematics method is not good enough to get satisfied surface and at the same time there are some breaking surface in the model which is disadvantage to make a smooth surface. This paper put forward the optimized methods include reconstructing the characteristic curve by reasonable use of the adjust tools and analyse tools of the modeling software, admeasuring the automotive model surface correctly, simulating the breaking surface and creating the surface in the right turns which is good for modeling a smooth and exactitude surface.At last, after the correct analysis of the factors which are effect to the surface construction, a smooth and exactitude surface of the similar diamond concept car has been constructed by using the right optimize method.
