High school graduates in the college entrance examination essay. Its purpose is to find the problems of vocabulary to use in high school students writing, and analysis of its causes, and to provide advice to the high school teaching of writing. The purpose of this study of self writing corpus (EWC), which contains some Chinese high school graduates, college entrance examination in English composition and American high school students to the essay written by the same title. By contrast, found that Chinese students with English as native speakers of American high school students writing language differences, the last of the various factors that lead to these differences include word length, sentence length and writing score correlation analysis. The main findings of this study are: 1) With the improvement of the standard of English, Chinese high school students writing pictogram (tokens), the number of class breaks (types), the symbol shaped character than the standard class (STTR), low-frequency words using the number of lexical density, sentence length, some fixed phrases (such as, I think you should), function words, and the use of modal verbs is getting closer and closer to American high school students; 2) the composition of the Chinese middle school students in the standard class symbol pictogram than low-frequency the number of words to use, lexical density, sentence length values ??are less than the composition of U.S. high school students. Chinese student essay average word longer than the average American high school students writing words long; 3) the composition of the Chinese middle school students in the part of speech distribution close to the native speakers, but especially in function words there is obviously insufficient use of conjunctions and prepositions; 4 ) Chinese middle school students in the composition extensive use of fixed phrases, which led to some of the excessive use of the word, the U.S. high school students rarely focus on the use of certain fixed phrases; 5) the impact of Chinese middle school students in the process of writing their mother tongue remains very serious, words, phrases and sentences are reflected; 6) Chinese high school students excessive use can and should use less than the number of American high school students and other modal verbs; 7) unstable essay genre of Chinese high school students in the use of the terms is more formal, some phrases as well as the use of the modal verb colloquial and very obvious; 8) correlation analysis showed that the number of Chinese students' essay shaped character, class character, standard class character shaped character than the sentence length with its achievements Inter was a significant positive correlation, average word length was positively correlated with scores, but not reach statistically significant correlation. Finally, the main findings of this study, the author of the secondary school teaching of English writing some of the recommendations.
