Preparation and Characterization of Polypropylene/montmorillonite and Polypropylene Alloy/montmorillonite Nanocomposites

Polymer / montmorillonite nanocomposites due to its excellent performance has attracted researchers' attention. This selection of polypropylene and EPDM rubber as the base material by melt intercalation were prepared polypropylene / montmorillonite and polypropylene alloys / montmorillonite nanocomposites and studied the structure and properties of composite materials . The study includes the following three parts: 1. Were prepared by melt intercalation of polypropylene / montmorillonite nanocomposites by XRD, TEM and DSC were used to investigate the structure and nanocomposites crystallization kinetics and to test its mechanical properties . XRD and TEM showed that the polymer chains have been intercalated into montmorillonite to form intercalated nanocomposites . Mechanical analysis showed that graft is added in a range of properties of the material will increase , and MMT content is small little effect . Graft and montmorillonite composite material makes the crystallization temperature of polypropylene definitely improved . (2) prepared by melt intercalation of PP / EPDM / montmorillonite nanocomposites by XRD, TEM and DSC were used to investigate the structure of nanocomposites and crystallization kinetics . The results showed that the resulting material is intercalated nanocomposites . Order of addition of the material impact on the performance significantly , the use of materials obtained after sequential feeding method was significantly higher than the overall performance of a feeding method . Generally speaking , graft and montmorillonite making PP / EPDM mechanical properties of the alloy is improved . 3 Changing the MMT approach, get modified montmorillonite , and resin blends used material derived from intercalation effect and mechanical properties are better than with a quaternary ammonium montmorillonite treated with resin blends composite materials.
