Often encountered in geotechnical engineering simulation problems involving infinite domain . With the emergence of a large number of social and economic development of the technology , high arch dam , building high - rise structure , these buildings destroyed , the consequences will be quite serious. Therefore, for an infinite domain simulation occupies an important position in the project . The article consists of three main parts : (a ) finite element methods, principles are discussed . ( B ) the infinite element and mapping infinite element methods, principles are discussed. These units during use can easily be coupled with other types of finite element . ( C) and perfected with the different types of finite element and infinite element coupling plane , spatial mapping joints , laminated infinite element , these units can simulate the bedrock occurrence distribution is very long ( infinite) joints , weak interlayer . The article also proved by calculation examples infinite element simulation the infinite domain foundation joints , laminated calculated reliability . According to the basic principles and methods of computation involved , the Fortran language compiled simulation plane , space issues various types of infinite domain joints , laminated map infinite element , finite element program . The procedure for solving the problem of the infinite domain provides a simple , easy, economical and reasonable mode of calculation , at the same time the program has been repeatedly used in the actual project and be tested , thus proving the proposed methods and procedures the reliability and economy .
