Study on Sustainable Development based on the ecological footprint of the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Tourist Zone

Based on the theory of ecological footprint(EF)and consumption characteristic of tourism activities, this article using several methods such as the literature analytic method, the open country inspection and the social investigation method, the quota methodology and the real diagnosis analytic method, applies the ecological footprint theories to the area of tourism ecological footprint,and constructs the estimation target system of ecological footprint and the model of quantitative estimation of the scenic spots to measure the degree of sustainable development of Genghis Khan Mausoleum.It is divided 5 chapters:Chapter 1 introduses the background, the contents and significance,and presents the basic framework of the study, research methods and the technical route.The main contents of chapter 2 are literature reviews on tourism ecological footprint(TEF).Based on elaborating the generation, application, theoretical evaluation and its present research sitution,and interpreting the meaning of tourism ecological and the theories, the article proposed the model of TEF.Chapter 3 is a overview of the study area.It describes in detail the natural situation,the tourism resources and its development status.According to data collection and analysis, the arthor generalizes the main characteristics of the tourism market of Genghis Khanthe Mausoleum, then carries out a survey on the required data.The main contents of Chapter 4 is a calculation and analysis procedure to Genghis Khanthe Mausoleum’s EF of 2009.It is the key of the study.The results based on analysis of tourism activities on the local environment, and with the local per capita ecological capacity to judge the sustainability of eco-tourism development.Based on EF calculations,Chapter 5 summed up the inadequacies of the study and directions for future research.This chapter focuses on the ecological footprint of tourism will become the Mausoleum of the calculation results into a reference and operational conclusions.Through the study,several conclutions are drawed:(1) Dimentions of tourist flows, tourist consumption level and model,the choice of transportation and the construction scale of tourist facilities are key factors of TEF.(2) Toursit traffic footprint is the latgest share in the tourism ecological footprint structure.There are two conclutions:First,because of local traffic convience and the prevalence of self-driving,ground transportation footprint is relatively large;Second,with the local economic development,routes increased,aviation footprint on the ecological environment can be not ignored.The EF of dinning and shopping followed by it,which means people’s consumption pattern is an another factor to ecological environment. Therefore, reducing the tourist traffic tools unit consumption by using modern technology effectively, improving the natural resources of unit output,improving utilization of the accommodation transportation and restaurant facilities, advocating to save resources, lowing energy consumption of tourism mode is a effective way of reducing the tourism ecological footprint.(3) Water receouses consumption and waste generated during the tourism activities is not taken into zccount in the calculation due to data collection difficult.So the final results is smaller than the actural value.(4) The paper calculates the total TEC and per capia ecological footprint of tourism,we can see that tourist ecological deficit is 0.006hm2 under the current patterns of consumption and the protection.,which indicates that the tourism development is unsustainabale.But If the managers can adjust measures to local conditions, from tourism products, improve tourism seasonally problems, such as reasonable controling and adjustment of the tourist reception number, reasonable utilization of resources, tourist area’s sustainable development wil be realized.
