Recently, the education for polytechnical college students has been developing rapidly as its professional practicability and characteristics are closely related to what the society needs. Researches show that there are close relations between language learning strategies and language competence. The using of language learning strategies has an effect on the speed and level of language competence acquisition, so the research on their relations of polytechnical college students should be paid more attention to. The results have theoretical and practical significance for improving English teaching and learning theory of polytechnical college and the study methods of polytechnical college students.Based on the previous researches, the study investigates the general situation of English learning strategies and English competence of polytechnical college students by the methods of questionnaire and test firstly, and then the correlation between language learning strategies and language competence is further studied.
