3-Amino-4-methoxy-acetanilide is an important intermediate used for synthesizing synthesizing some dyestuffs and pharmaceuticals. A total synthesis of 3-amino-4-methoxy-acetanilide starting from 4-nitrochlorobenzene, followed by methoxylation, reduction, acylation and nitration reactions etc., was studied. The total yield was improved to 80.0 % in a purity of 99.2 %. Some rational technological parameters, related reaction mechanisms and reaction conditions were discussed. The structures and compositions of these compounds were accomplished by spectral analysis and chromatographic analysis.
