With the growing complexity of the design in modern weapons,highly demands are given to the performance of testing system of weapons.The traditional test equipment can not meet the requirements in testing.With its superior working performance and good cost perfoemance, PXI bus has gradually been applied in the weapon testing field.This paper will introduce PXI bus technology into weapon testing field. Based on the deep study on the principles of projectile velocity measurement, a projectile velocity test module based on PXI bus is proposed which can test projectile velocity while the firing state is running shot or canister shot.FPGA and PCI9054 are used to fulfil the design of PXI interface of speed testing module, which can achieve data transmission between PXI bus and LOCAL bus. As the cut-off device used by speed testing module, corresponding signal conditioning circuit is desgined to sharp output signals. The circuit of speed testing module is completed in FPGA, which can test and store the time interval of each projectile passing through the target real timely while the firing state is signal shot,running shot or canister shot. Meanwhile the phenomenon of race and hazard in data storage is solved in this circuit.In the part of software design, we use WinDriver to develop module driver programs, and then the driver program is encapsulated to DLL for calling from user program; the user program is compiled based on Labwindows/CVI development platform which can read and process data in memory, and can display processed data on different user interface accordintg different teating state.Finally, use the ideal signal generator to calibrate the speed module, analyze theerror between measured value and theoretical value, find the cause and modify the design until the error is controlled within the allowable range.
