The education of national defense is basic quality education of the whole nation people. The problems that is solves are not only related to national defense construction, but also the education of the citizens. The double properties represent the double function of it, which concludes the functions of strength the national defense and cultivate people synthetically. The research here is based on the latter issue to explore the influence of the education of national defense on the university students from the aspect of non-intellectual factors.Here is the questionnaire which is self-edited:631 students was selected from three different universities in Hunan province to do this research. Specifically speaking, it almost includes:the status quo of the impact of the education of national defense on the students from the aspect of non-intellectual factors; the influential factor of the three kinds of the formation of national defense education on the five kinds of non-intellectual factors; the differences of the variables of human demography (such as gender, grade, etc) of the influence that university national defense exercises on the students’ non-intellectual factors. The results tell us:the impact that the national defense put on the male students’ non-intellectual factors is greater than that on the female students. However, there is no gender difference of the impact on the emotional factors. There is a falling tendency with the increase of age. There are differences of the impact on the five kinds of non-intellectual factors. The biggest impact is on the emotional factors, while the least impact is on the interest and motivation. The impact of military training on the non-intellectual factors is more than the military theoretical classes and the visit and learning activities of national defense on the non-intellectual factors. The impact of military training on the students’ characters and volitions are greater than the latter two activities. However, its impact on interests is smaller than the latter two activities.Through content analysis of open questions, and combined the discussion of the results of the study, we propose that the influence of defense education to non-intellectual factors can be strengthened by proceeding differentiated defense education, internalizing defense education to the professional education and promoting the migration of the effect which defense education affects the non-intellectual factors.
