As the rapid development of modern science technology and information technology, knowledge updates speed, however, traditional textbook are still fixed, it costs a long time to update, thus it can not transfer the new knowledge to students promptly, which is not conducive to the effective guidance of student learning. Meanwhile, in Information Age, the way of read has been changed from the simple traditional paper-based materials to digital textbooks, then the way of designing textbook available still concentrates on traditional learning way of processing knowledge precisely, their learning contents are relatively isolated, their structures update even more slowly, and they emphasize memorial knowledge. Facing with these problems, we need to introduce new concepts and techniques to resolve some problems effectively which arise in the process of constructing textbook. In this study, the dynamic teaching material is a modern concept of textbook, and it meets the requirements of modern teaching concepts of teacher-led, student-centered in the process of education information reform.This study mainly divided into two parts, in the part of theoretical exploration, we apply literature research methods to sorts out current situation of the domestic and international textbook construction and utilization, discuss the trend of textbook as well as corresponding teaching concepts and teaching methods, analysis advantages of dynamic textbook compare with traditional textbook. We will explain the concept of dynamic textbook from the perspective of scalability and support individualized teaching; convenience of modifying and updating; interactivity and integration of content; support for multiple output and so on. We apply cloud computing assisted teaching, constructivist learning theory, systems approach and knowledge update rules to guide the design and development of dynamic textbook.We sum up the general process of dynamic textbook, which base on the characteristics and the basic teaching design process of dynamic textbook, take modern distance education textbook as an example, we illustrate the design process of dynamic textbook from design ideas and features, system function design, platform construction, mechanism of modification and incentive and son on.At the level of practice, the developed materials are applied by 08 undergraduate who major in Educational Technology, clarify the application process of "Modern Distance Education" dynamic textbook that base on moodle platform features in detail. After actual use of the textbook, we investigate the application effect by questionnaires and interviews in the experiment class, interview related instructor and other teachers to learn the scientificity of content presentation, organizational structure and system function as well as the adaptability of teachers and students learning, summarize the experience of textbook design, find out the inadequacies, and further improve the design and application of dynamic textbook, therefore, to provide practical experience for the reform of university textbook. The results show that dynamic textbook have distinct advantages compare with traditional textbook. It can promote the teaching content update effectively. Meanwhile, the dynamic textbook is benefit for improving the ability of collaborative and creative thinking. This study is expected to provide the role of better ideas for existing university teaching reform by investigating the concept of dynamic teaching material and research of corresponding design and application.
