Study on Student Management of Rural Boarding School in China

The student management in the rural boarding school is one of the most important problems in the reform and development of Chinese rural basic education. With the layout adjustment of the rural compulsory school and the implementation of Rural Boarding School Construction Project, this problem has become increasingly prominent and attracted wide attention. In this study, students in the three rural boarding schools from Xian’an county Xianning District were investigated. By using questionnaires, literature research, statistical analysis and other methods, the student management status was investigated, the student management problems were analyzed, and the causes of student management problems were studied. Then, a series of effective measures were proposed. The study is useful for the enhancement of rural boarding school student management, the improvement of the management quality, the promoting of the full and harmonious development of students’ physical and mental.The thesis contains four parts:The first part is the introduction. It includes origin of rural boarding student management, research purpose and significance, literature review, concept of related definitions, research methods and process.The theoretical basis of the boarding school student management are proposed in the second part. By the description of Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory and the revealing of its meaning and significance, it provides the theoretical basis for the research of rural boarding school student management problems.The third part is the research of the present situation of rural boarding school student management. This survey contains the basic situation of students, the problem of rural boarding junior high school student management and the analysis of its reasons. First of all, from five aspects of survey, i.e., security management, catering management, health management, accommodation management and education management, it is concluded that the results of the survey is:there are still certain problems left, yet the present countryside boarding junior high school student management has obtained certain effects. Second, further analyzing the reason for the problem is helpful for exploring rural boarding school management models.In the forth part, some countermeasures and suggestions were proposed for solving the problem of the boarding school student management. The main contents include, standardizing the boarding school student management by establishing rules and regulations, concerning the physical and mental development of boarding school students by taking people as the foremost, building the teaching quality monitoring system of rural schools by paying attention to the process management, completing the task of boarding school student education and management together by strengthening the cooperation of home-school.
