With the increase in exports of bandwidth and new application development, campus network problems arise:the network can not identify the reason for the higher occupancy rate optimizing, insufficient bandwidth are lack of statistical data and the network can not identify the causes of such sudden interruption. Traditional traffic management can not meet the requirements, therefore, we not only need to monitor the total bandwidth lines, but also need to identify the network applications.Campus network application layer traffic analysis and management can control the content of network traffic. And timely grasp. Network traffic characteristics, which can optimize bandwidth allocation and enhance network performance. In recent years and in the future, many college campus network staff pay close attention to the hot issue of research and development.this paper attempts to investigate the current campus network traffic management and analyze network traffic and the main characteristics of network traffic monitoring technology, and summarize the methods of management based on technology monitoring, and then focus on the identification of the basic techniques in the application layer of network traffic, finally discuss the traffic monitoring and analysis systems.The Key part of the thesis, makes analysis of situation about a given campus network, and puts forward traffic and bandwidth management strategies, and designs the overall program of flow monitoring technology, and according to specific hardware and software equipment test, makes a flow rate monitoring. This thesis attempts to investigate how the college and university, which exemplify many types of equipment and low-level technology, manage and monitor the network traffic and analysis. The main objective of the study is to provide quantized date for the staff of network and improve management work.
