With the application and development of multimedia computer technology , foreign language teaching usher in new opportunities and challenges , foreign language teachers strongly feel that the use of multimedia computer technology to create a better environment for foreign language teaching is very necessary , most of the foreign language teachers must consider the application of computers in teaching , otherwise not suited to the new era of technology demands on teachers . Use of multimedia computer technology assisted foreign language teaching in the language teaching profession has widely popular , many researchers believe that multimedia computer technology has its unique advantage in the secondary school , such as Wyatt, 1984; Dunkle , 1987 ; of Al- Arishi , 1994 for ; Garrett and Hart , 1989 many front-line teachers began to explore this aspect of the problem . analysis of the history of its development , as well as review of related theory applied to the characteristics of the foreign language teaching based on multimedia technology , this paper investigates the feasibility and necessity of multimedia computer technology in English language teaching , also discussed the role of the requirements of the new era of foreign language teachers . In order to get more reliable data and arguments , the author 's work unit Huludao City Senior High School senior grade two classes of 110 students do the appropriate research and investigation , analysis of the experimental results and the experiment of careful observation of a comprehensive experimental analysis and findings of others , come to the following conclusions : the necessity and feasibility of the multimedia computer technology in foreign language teaching , teaching concepts : the lack of traditional foreign language teaching calls and means change , and multimedia application in foreign language teaching is student-centered classroom teaching of foreign languages ??as possible ; multimedia computer aided foreign language teaching is more conducive to cultivate students' abilities . Stimulate students' motivation to learn and improve student interest ; increase the input of the classroom , and improve the efficiency of foreign language teaching
