The Research and Implementation of the Key Technology Based on GIS Visualization of Marine & Atmosphere Data

With the improvement of marine exploration technology, the Marine geographic information system (MGIS) has increasingly gained great attention. Oceanic data has the characteristics of multi-sources, heterogeneous, and mass. Visualization plays an important role in GIS, which could transform the data people can’t directly observe into graphics form. It is significant that brings GIS into marine science. The basic characteristics of oceanic data visualization are practical, interactive and high efficiency. Based on GIS, distributed technology, scientific visualization, combining the characteristics of oceanic data, this paper does some research work on the key technology of oceanic data’s GIS visualization, and get some achievements:1. Builds an MAGIS architecture based on WCF. SOA is the design concept of the development of the next generation system. WCF is Microsoft’s next generation technique of distributed development, provides a more secure and flexible framework for distributed system. This paper constructs the distributed MAGIS visualization component architecture by WCF, improves the system’s flexibility and popularity. The server side of it is designed and implemented of three-layer architecture. The DAL layer is built on .Net reflection technology. The ActiveX and AJAX are the main technologies of client side.2. Web-based visualization requires high interactivity and accuracy. Two-dimensional visualization is the main form of Web-based visualization. Making advantage of Nplot control and expanding it, the paper designs and develops Web-based two-dimensional visualization methods of oceanic data, including scatter diagram, vector diagram of wind, etc, which are applied in the marine environment information integrated and dynamic visualization system to demonstrate the oceanic data on the web. 3. Three-dimensional data visualization has been one of the most focused fields of GIS visualization. Has studied the implement mechanism of VTK, the paper brings it into oceanic temperature and salinity data field’s three-dimensional visualization, realizes the Marching Cubes and ray-casting volume render algorithms.By the researches above, the paper has explored the architecture, developed technology of oceanic data visualization, and built a good foundation for the further study.
