The Research of Foreign Novels Teaching in Middle Schools

With the advance of the Chinese curriculum reform, multiculturalism in Chinese education get more and more attention. Foreign novels teaching in middle school is not only an important channel for students to open eyes, but also help students the multi-cultural quality and human qualities. But the fact did not, especially in the teaching process; there are serious problems in learning of foreign novels in Chinese teaching:teachers are tied of teaching and students are tied of studying, the unique flavor of the foreign novels haven’t fully bring into play. Faced with this situation, the author tries to from the practical point of view analyze the current problems and even the causes existed in foreign novels teaching. This paper mainly includes four parts.Preface part gives reasons for choosing this subject, values and analysis of the present situation. Meanwhile, based on the need to select the research object and research methods, finally sort out the idea.In the first part, through the questionnaires in the form of both students and teachers, the author generalizes the current teaching situation of foreign novels, which takes middle schools in Panyu district for example.In the second part, the author analyze the causes of the problems existed in the teaching of foreign novels mainly from the difficulty of themselves, the impact of cultural differences, the influence of exam-oriented education and the lack of teacher’s quality.In the third part, based on the analysis of the present situation, the author raises the specific targeted strategies from the student grades, teacher quality, in which the name simplified method and the mind reading provide some reference for school teachers in the teaching of foreign novels.
