Education is a kind of social activity that is supposed to train and foster the human beings. As a part of the whole education, vocational education has played a very important role and has been paid more and more attention by the central government and the society. However, it is facing an embarrassing dilemma:the situation of the low classroom participation of vocational students, the high pressure of the teachers’teaching, the unsatisfying results of the education and the teaching, the bad situation of students’ employment. According to this fact, this paper first talks about the reasons why the topic is chosen, then defines’the classroom participation’and’the vocational students’ classroom participation’and the standard of the vocational students’classroom participation’, and further talks about the characteristics,the significance and the academic foundation of the vocational students’classroom participation’by analyzing the relevant literature participatory teaching and learning at home and abroad. The paper also narrates the current situation of the vocational students’classroom participation’by mainly using the literature method, questionnaire survey, classroom observational survey and certain interview and summarizes the problems existing in the vocational students’ classroom participation’:most students don’t participate in the class without much interest in studying, the unsatisfying situation of students’employment, the teaching disability of changing the facts. It analyzes the results and summarizes the factors affected the vocational students’classroom participation:the gender and the character of the students, the class sort, the major sort, academic achievements, motivation of the participation, the teachers and the textbooks, the family and the environments. On the basis of the six principles of improving the vocational students’classroom participation: equality, hierarchy, comprehensive, continuity, encouragement and diversity, the paper explores the strategies to improve the classroom participation:cultivate the motivation in learning to redeploy classroom participation; cultivate the students’interest in learning to stimulate the students to participate in the class; clear the goal of education to lead the students’participation; create a harmonious classroom atmosphere to promote the students’participation; provide more chances for success to enlarge the students’ participation which are very useful in improving the students’classroom participation by teaching practice.
